Luke Roschen has been as creative as ever when it comes to rolling out of the pocket to find space to run. He's also hard to take down. His elusive ability and a long 3rd-quarter drive, plus playmaking of others, have Goodhue in the Class AA championship.

Goodhue had three game-altering 4th-down stops. Their biggest though came on a 4th down late in regulation, then on a 2-pt try for WEM in overtime.

The Wildcats are headed to US Bank Stadium for the first time since they played at the Metrodome in 2010.

"I feel for our fans for not being able to give them a better performance or a better run."

Long-time Aces 2B Adam Thygesen said it felt too familiar. RW had a good shot at competing for deeper into state tourny. They unfortunately lost in extra innings.

Definitely one of the coolest moments I've covered. Unprompted, fans rose in applause before the final strike. Drew Ball got it to record 16K in a 1-hit CG for the Red Wing Aces. The one hit was the only runner to reach base safely against him.

Goodhue made it close when it wasn't for much of the game. Gave Red Lake County a scare but the deficit was simply too much. They don't want to go 0-2 at state again where tomorrow they'll face Heritage Christian again.

A combination of perfect defensive positioning by West Central Area and poor outside shooting by Goodhue led to the upset in Class A semifinal. Wildcats can still have fun ending the season on a positive note tomorrow for third place.

Gone are the days when Goodhue was scoring 40 or 50 points and grinding out wins that way. This version of the Wildcats can put up monster offensive numbers. Four section tournament games, at least 90 pts in three of them. They are back to state next week.

Alex Loos was on a heater last night. After coming out, he basically said screw it. Let's get the milestone done because he just wants to focus on the team winning. He came back in because you never walk away from the table when you're on a heater.
