Fantastic and clear description of why we need indirect costs to support research that improves health - just think about all of the people and infrastructure needed to safely store blood samples.

I’m glad this is getting broader attention. But let’s dispense with the “researchers say” framing. If this cut holds, which applies to ongoing work effective Monday, health research and jobs will be imperiled. Few institutions can absorb this cut without layoffs or other drastic measures.
