It's not La Vie est Belle is it? Most disgusting thing I've ever smelt. Like having a rancid raspberry and vanilla tart forcibly jammed up your nostrils.

Ha, looks like they've just literally translated 'chippy' into 'French fry' rather than realising it means fish and chip place.

Sounds lovely. The flavours in it remind me a bit of that Peter Gordon recipe for chicken breasts stuffed with mushrooms, sundried toms and sage, then wrapped in prosciutto and roasted.

Ha! Astonishing that anyone would trust them about anything after reading that. And they're boasting about it!

I've noticed in some American novels they don't use it very much - I don't know if that's a new thing. Sometimes it's got me confused when they're referring to both the recent and more distant past, but not clearly distinguishing between them.
