I've met folks in rural Appalachian communities where yes, they all know how to break down a deer and no, they're not going to tell their neighbors because y'all already look down on them as rednecks and hicks (and maybe they didn't get a permit this year cause they couldn't pay for it).

In the US hunting is both a posh thing and a thing a lot of rural folks do to keep themselves fed when they might not have enough money for meat otherwise. It's a lot easier to do when there's actual public land to hunt in.
