I just switched to @readwise.bsky.social and I'm really digging it. I like it a lot more than Pocket actually. Switching was super easy, too, as they'll import all of your stuff over automatically.

Yup. We wrote a bit about how it’s going to affect us. We’re not immediately stopping shipping to the US on the 9th, but this is a death blow for lots of small American companies. shop.keyboard.io/blogs/news/a...

To our US customers: A few days ago, the Trump Administration announced that they will be ending the de minimis exemption for all shipments from Hong Kong and China on May 2. They also raised the mini...

Nice! I’ve been meaning to watch Everything Everywhere for a while now. Bumping to the top of the watch list.

What’re you watching?

Thanks for the recommendation! I’m trying it out. They didn’t have an entry for risotto but the analyzer came up with a plausible recipe and calorie count. Not sure how accurate it was, but almost certainly better than me guessing.

I got a lotta problems with you people! And now you’re gonna hear about it!

Finished day 20 of #adventofcode. More path finding, but an interesting and fun twist. It was clear that brute force wasn't going to work even for part 1. Part 2 just required some generalization but the essence of the solution for part 1 still applied.

Also finished day 19 #adventofcode today in my push to get caught up. It was a fun one! And the first problem of the year where I crashed my computer trying to solve it, heh.

#adventofcode day 18 was kind of a combo of days 16 and 17.

I got stuck on part 2 by misunderstanding the problem and making it harder than it was. After re-reading the prompt more carefully, I realized I had already found the solution super quickly as part of my more complex "solution".

Finished day 17 of #adventofcode with a pseudo-manual search of values for part 2. Having done it manually I now know how I would automate, but I have the answer, so I'm moving on.

Catching up on #adventofcode after a crazy week at work. Returning to an old friend to path find for day 16.

My solution to day 15 of #adventofcode was a MESS! A lot of redundancy and so many if statements. I could clean it up considerably with a refactor, but I can't be bothered.

Finished days 13 and 14 of #adventofcode. Day 14 part 2 was really fun! I imagine there are a lot of different ways people went about finding the step where the Christmas tree showed up. I used some intuition about the stats of how the robots would be positioned when they made a tree vs. otherwise.

Fell a bit behind with #adventofcode but finally caught back up today. Day 10 was very straight forward. I struggled with part 2 on day 11... had the right idea, but needed a hint to get over the line. My soln for day 12 was inelegant but got the job done.

Another slow part 2 on Day 9 of #adventofcode, continuing a trend. I should re-structure the data into a compressed form like the input, but keeping it uncompressed with each block represented in a list gets the job done enough to get the star. Another case of "I'll optimize this later" (I won't)

Day 8 of #adventofcode was pretty straightforward. I guess that gives me time to go back and optimize day 7.

Another inefficient solution for part 2 on day 7, but again I eventually get the right answer (after ~1 min). I think I know how to optimize this one, and I may actually do it if I have a chance later today. #adventofcode

Very!

My solution to part 2 of day 6 is really slow, but eventually (in ~5min) I get the right answer. #adventofcode
