If only Russian foreign policy since 1917 was studied with the same obsession and harsh criticism as America’s.
Spoiler: Russian FP generally led to less peace, stability, or mutual economic benefit. If not the vast majority of its neighbours wouldn’t have joined NATO.

The quick rout of Assad’s regime isn’t surprising. It was like Mosul in 2014 & Afghanistan in 2021
In each case the regime had more soldiers & firepower but their allies left them
The armies were incompetent & unmotivated & the regimes were corrupt & unpopular
