Agreed, and I appreciate that he used prose to show the evolution of language over time. He did the same with The Boats of the Glenn Carrig, which I liked, but it’s a shorter story. The narrative style at that prose for that many pages in The Night Land was just too much, but I do love its weirdness

It’s been 20 years now, but I remember liking its atmosphere and quirkiness, the feeling of being in the weeds of a foggy port town during the great depression. Definitely a vibe
