Standard airline seats are 17 inches wide, they are tight for anyone. Don’t worry, they aren’t ending the policy, they are just changing the process. So you can still feel slighted about something that has literally no effect on you.

Not sure how this was a discount, but the option was available to anyone that flew on SW, if you followed the process. It was just advertised to “customers of size” because other airlines don’t have many options.
