Nintendo will NOT add Melee to GCN Switch Online
Smash N64 was only available on the Wii’s Virtual Console. It got deliberately left out on Wii U and Switch Online. I’m pretty sure this is done to boost incentive to play Smash Wii U and Ultimate instead.

Nintendo will NOT add Melee to GCN Switch Online

I hope WW and TP still get proper remasters/remakes on Switch 2.
Having the originals on Switch online is nice and all but there were legit gameplay improvements in the HD versions that I don’t want stuck on Wii U

Nintendo better update the other Switch online apps to support button remapping like with GCN.
Leaving that shit to a system wide remapper is a terrible user experience.

I will say those new wireless GCN controllers are arguably the most versatile of any Switch Online controller.
Wavebirds are very expensive and don’t serve much utility today. Third party alternatives still don’t hold a candle to OEM imho
Dolphin support alone would make them more than worth it

$80 for digital release is gonna be hard to swallow.
If I’m optimistic they’ll bring back Nintendo Selects later in the consoles lifespan.
Otherwise I see my Switch 2 collection being far smaller than Switch 1

I don’t know how else to put it but I feel Resident Evil 2 N64 and Metal Gear Solid 3 3DS are in that same class of awkward ports that have legitimate upgrades.
Like RE2 having third person controls on N64 like the RE Remake Remaster
And MGS somehow having better graphics on 3DS.
