𝗛𝗘𝗬, 𝗝𝗨𝗗𝗘: CBS Sunday Morning’s profile of Sean Lennon implied Sean is John Lennon’s only son. Julian Lennon’s omission wasn’t subtle — it was distracting; it reshaped the story. A legacy story deserves the full family history, not a selective one.

Families don’t forget each other. Neither should the writers. Michael’s presence deserves acknowledgment—through dialogue, flashback, or even a letter.

I understand Rockmond Dunbar’s exit was legally complicated. But viewers shouldn’t bear the cost of industry discomfort. Erasing a Black same-gender-loving father sends a harmful message about whose stories are worth preserving.

Michael wasn’t absent or estranged. He came out, co-parented with Athena, faced illness, and left for Haiti with his partner. So when May called Bobby “our dad,” it wasn’t just a line—it overshadowed and dismissed Michael’s role in her life.

Michael Grant’s erasure on 9-1-1 isn’t just a narrative oversight — it’s emotional betrayal. His arc once anchored the show’s portrayal of family, identity, and resilience.

@vladduthierscbs.bsky.social had to hype Gayle King in the latest celebrity blastoff. Focus on Jeff Bezos' fiancee Lauren Sánchez was a must. Singer Katy Perry and scientist Amanda Nguyen got good play. Not so for filmmaker Kerianne Flynn. Or Aisha Bowe who opted for rocket science over cosmetology.
