Came back from the eldest football match to loads of notifications. Thanks for all of the replies! Lots to reflect on. Going to have a careful read and try to pull something together

What’s the main difference in the views that you’ve noticed?

That would open so much to rural schools. Getting kids to historic sites / museums / galleries etc is nearly impossible because of transport costs. There are only so many times they can visit the local ‘attraction’ in primary and secondary school

I was quoted £4000 to take a group of students (2 coaches) from Lincoln to London for the day. The cost is prohibitive for schools and parents

Brilliant image! Definitely needs to go into lesson resources.
We went at the beginning of the month. Managed Sutton Hoo, Grimes Graves and Castle Acre Priory while we were in the area. History teacher bucket list!

Haven’t been a tutor for years, but as mum to a child who just finished y7, look out for the quiet ones. Mine didn’t speak for the first 2 weeks as he didn’t know anyone. A bit of subtle work by the pastoral team to pair him with a good egg and he now has a great group of friends and loves it

This looks superb.

I have more of an issue with What’s app being used for school business. I find that the platform has removed boundaries between personal and professional. Some don’t seem to consider a quick message at 9.30pm a problem

Your point about learning to edit is so important. Have seen students rip pages out and rewrite everything so it ‘looks perfect’.
I agree about doodles - scrap paper only.

Do you think there is any benefit to students in how they use their exercise book?
August 20, 2024 at 9:10 PM
Thanks.
Do you ask students to make notes in a different format?
Would you expect recall questions to be answered in full sentences?
August 20, 2024 at 9:09 PM
That’s a good point. How do you use them in science?
