Fuh-huh-huck yes.

This next one is skipping ahead a bit because I got stuck in the process, but hell yeah finished door and some finished and unfinished drawers!
December 6, 2025 at 6:17 PM
Oh boy oh boy if you thought this was over you were incorrect. Behold: A door!

I learned a lot of things hanging this door. Chief among them is that I do not love hanging doors.

Alright. Time for the full dry fit pics. I really couldn’t be happier with this. Considering I’ve never built anything like this before, things are moving along swimmingly. If a bit rhomboid.

The thing is — these doors and drawer faces are going to be HILARIOUSLY out of square. Not one right angle to be found. But I bet. I BET. If I didn’t say anything? You’d never know. Even though I’ve done a bunch of weird shit to make the doors and drawer faces fit and look normal.

I really should have done this differently. But here we are. Sometimes it’s better to move ahead at all than to await perfection.

NONE. NONE OF IT. IT’S ALL TRAPEZOIDS FROM HERE TO ETERNITY BAYBEE!!
November 14, 2025 at 8:07 AM
Ok fine I won’t wait. Here’s the face frame installed. Guess how much of it is perfectly square.
November 14, 2025 at 8:06 AM
I didn’t take any pictures at all of how I built the face frame for this. But I did make a pretty fundamental error with them, which I’ll share next. That’s the next major milestone here. Face: framed. For now I’ll post the rest of the cabinet structure, with all its nifty but unnecessary detail.

Speaking of. This size panel was new for me. I was worried. It came out prettydamn nice though. I didn’t even have to commune with festoolian gods for it.

Later you will see it cut to size and installed. But not now. That would be skipping ahead.

Close on some of the interior structure. After these posts, the next person to see this detail will be whoever uninstalls the top panel for some future reason.

Maybe they’ll be delighted by it.

Maybe I’ll draw some lurid iconography, to occupy the anthropologists.

You’re unlikely to find out.

The dados, I should point out, were PERFECT. Not too tight. Not too loose. It was really a tragedy of successes.
November 13, 2025 at 9:21 AM
I measured very carefully how much material I would need to compensate for on the central shelf of this carcass, given the dados it was meant to slide into. And then I removed that much from baseline instead of adding it.

So this piece is 1.5” shorter than designed.

Congratulations, me.

For this one let’s see if hashtags are a thing. I am suspicious that they are to social media as crystals are to healing, but what is true of crystals if you believe in their efficacy is that they *feel* helpful regardless of what is actually going on.

So.

Phew.

Pick up some of that peanut butter whiskey (Skrewball, I think it’s called?)

Cut a medium-tart apple into chunks. Soak those chunks in the peanut butter whiskey for an hour or two.

Eat the whiskey soaked apple chunks.
