Sometimes Clark Kent, sometimes Superman. Interested in the interesting. Never tell me the odds.

Is it possible that the best photographs ever taken of James Stewart, Lee Marvin, John Ford and Lee Van Cleef are all the same one?

Rewatch of ‘LA Takedown’ affirms that it is a better film than ‘Heat’. The comparison really highlights how bloated Heat is, and how much of it is superfluous. Best example is Chris, who fades out of Heat, and is almost absent in LA Takedown, which has a tighter, clearer script.

I’ve had this a little while. Perfect fit and feels tailored to me, but obtained via op-shop/vintage. Heavier than a modern suit. Seems the Ernest Wirth factory opened in Elizabeth in 1961, although online search results claim he may have been operating since the 1940s. Anyone have any intel…?

I was only 16 the first time I read this. I hadn’t lived long enough to be able to understand its power, nor was I wise enough to read between the lines, nor aware enough to join the dots of political context. Painful and potent to revisit, but well worth it.

From my old May ‘83 Time magazine, which I revisited recently. Despite Lucas’s exit and the Disney takeover, the prequels and sequels turned out pretty much as projected all those years ago.

Nearly as old as I am and in perfect working order. Like new, in fact. I’ve sent my last word processed letter.

Got totally distracted watching ‘The Misfits’ when Clark Gable pulled a surprise Riker Manouvre in front of Marilyn. The earliest caught on film, unless you know better.

Things don’t get much more Lynchian than that bit in ‘Mulholland Drive’ when Miley’s dad pops up.

In 2005 Daniel Craig was cast as James Bond. 20 years later, as no successor has been named, he is still the latest 007.

Splendid Christmas gift: advent book box. 24 individually wrapped books, one for each day of December in the lead up to Christmas. Real beauty of it is accepting the randomness of someone else’s curated choice, which takes me out of my usual preferences and into territory I may not have explored.

Was advised today that I make an appearance in the new Colin Firth drama “Lockerbie: A Search for Truth” via archival news footage. I recall giving this interview to Scottish Television news ahead of the compassionate release of Abdelbaset Al Megrahi.
