Well that's not the Ryde station I was expecting to see!

49 days after Easter, also known as Pentecost.

So inevitably they will

Did they use them at any time except when the teams came out? All seemed a bit pointless to me

I have a Yothu Yindi album from my trip to Oz back in 96-97, absolutely love it, but don't have a clue what they're singing about. Fairly sure they performed at the ANZ Stadium for the first Superleague game in 97

I have hotmail.com, but my wife has hotmail.co.uk - it wasn't available when I set up my account in 1996!

FFS, don't lump us all in with that lot!

What does Sussex count as?

Personally, as a native South Londoner (well, 3 miles south of Croydon) I regard The North as anything over the Thames!

That's harsh on Canvot - if you have to play a 19 year-old centre back in the Premier League then you have to accept the occasional mistake, particularly when playing in a team low on confidence. He's generally looked excellent otherwise, and will be a quality player in a year or so.

Wish I still had my 2 monitor setup, but when we moved to our new office they gave us all single extra-wide curved monitors instead. Makes for a lot more organising every time I open a new window

I know JP is a big guy, but does he really need a Global 6000?

My daughter managed to get a couple yesterday for the extra dates, she was quite surprised there were some left 3 hours after going on sale

What I really wanted was a back seat Spitfire fight, but my daughters could only afford the sim 😔
January 29, 2026 at 10:38 AM
What will you be flying? I've got a Spitfire sim experience to book at some point www.thespitfireexperience.com

I suspect it is probably the reason - I doubt anyone would want to risk drinking the water from the taps in the toilets at a football ground
January 21, 2026 at 11:47 AM
In their defence, that is a pain in the arse. However I can totally understand why it's now a requirement & fully support it.

Does get interesting at football where you're not allowed to have a lid on your bottle for some bizarre reason

I forgot to mention that in the same conversations with my doctor!

What a great name! As a boy mine was the Coulsdon Bourne (which I don't think I ever saw, since it's underground & doesn't flow except for exceptionally wet periods), but now it's the Arun
January 15, 2026 at 1:22 PM
I totally appreciate that, just thought I would show the other side of the coin. As an ex-Londoner who moved to Sussex 22 years ago because it was too expensive to stay, I guess it makes sense that school numbers are dropping as young people do the same as I did
January 15, 2026 at 1:12 PM
But then look at more rural areas outside London - our local primary is full, and they've already built 1,000 new houses without adding any new school capacity. Now they're planning another 1,500 and the developers have mentioned a new school, but unless an academy is interested it will never appear
January 15, 2026 at 10:55 AM
That sounds like a very British way of looking at things - I guess we're both masters of understatement
January 15, 2026 at 10:20 AM
Not directly I'm afraid, but I know I've read it somewhere. A quick search brings up this summary (AI I know, but it seems to have used pretty good sources). Maybe doubling the cost was a bit of an exaggeration on my part
January 14, 2026 at 1:06 PM
And not just speed, but unnecessarily high speed. Main reason for HS2 costs increasing was the insistence on 250mph running - the engineering requirements for that extra 50mph pretty much doubled the cost, all so Boris could say it was the fastest in Europe
January 14, 2026 at 12:48 PM
I thought it was pretty much at full capacity already, that's what HS2 was meant to resolve
January 14, 2026 at 12:22 PM
I thought UKIP had become Reform - are they still alive then?
