All things women’s cricket
“the overseas players have generally failed to make much of an impression (with the exception of Wolvaardt)”. I didn’t realise DWH was now a domestic Australian player!

Interesting… This is Apple weather for Wednesday in Guwahati:
October 27, 2025 at 6:30 PM
OMG, red-top frothing incoming! 🫣
October 20, 2025 at 3:33 PM
Not much in it really but a very slightly better opener

I'm not sure where you'd find the definitive list of current WODI umpires (apart from asking @hypocaust.bsky.social of course) but here is the list of those who are there. The most obvious female umpire to miss out is Anna Harris on 24+5.

Slightly different level of detail though!

Interestingly her International averages are as good opening as they are at #7. And this year that’s where she’s predominantly been batting both domestically and internationally

Looks like being quite a successful day for England in their warm-up against India. However, without Pratika Rawal, Smriti Mandhana and Harmanpreet Kaur batting, I suspect it isn't as big a challenge as 19th Oct will be...

Seems like most of the England World Cup squad (except Capsey in Surrey’s case) are on holiday…

No idea how the 15 degrees elbow angle is measured but…

Are there any female bowlers strong enough to brace the front leg? I’ve been looking but can’t find any
August 11, 2025 at 4:14 PM
It’s not that the England fielders lack the skills to take world class catches, it’s that they lack the confidence to do so when under international pressure

I think you’re remembering the Southby of previous seasons. Her batting progression over the winter has been remarkable:
July 12, 2025 at 6:50 AM
Only Southby knows how she turned that awful throw into a runout! 🤯

It's not exactly iHawk(!) but this shows nothing's ever quite as cut-&-dried as it looks (although it still looks doubtful...). The biggest problem is from this angle you can't actually see where the ball pitches or where it hits the pad as the umpire is in the way

Whereas neither Smith nor (perhaps more surprisingly) Bell are rested by Hampshire/England
May 17, 2025 at 5:05 AM
Although until that knock she wasn’t even in the top 10 run-scorers in the ODC. But I agree that shows how much she has matured… and she’s still only 20!

All the winners and losers from the latest England Women's squads against the West Indies:
❌Heath & Bouchier out
👎Capsey & Wyatt Hodge dropped from just the ODIs
👍Lamb in as top ODC run-scorer... although next 4 miss out 😕)
👍Arlott in as 2nd top ODC wicket-taker... all 3rd top misses out 😕)

I also noticed the incredulity from the Hampshire players for this not-given run-out on Sunday against Essex. By my estimate she is only 2 yards out!!! 🙈
May 14, 2025 at 3:08 PM
I think they’d be delighted if it was only 31 on Sunday! 🥵🔥☀️

If the wobble seam is doing this much then why try to swing it? Swing is harder for a bowler to control but seam is harder for a batter to play
December 16, 2024 at 8:38 AM
Although this is actually the point of impact. Might be over the top but looks bl**dy close to top of middle!
December 15, 2024 at 9:01 AM
Point of impact is above the knee roll… but still bl**dy close to top of middle!
December 15, 2024 at 8:38 AM
In the men’s game that’s over the top all day long. In the women’s game that’s bl***dy close to top of middle!
