80% of these designers make locally in a super hands-on way, some literally sewing every piece themselves, others running micro ateliers or wkng w/ neighbourhood makers - & few had ambitions to change that. Community-based, often made to order, v. low waste, biz model inherently sustainable.

Fab being a judge for Australia’s Nat Designer of the Year awards at Melbourne Fashion Fest (interesting that no other judges - Akira Isogawa, Bianca Spender etc or MFF are on Bluesky?). Anyway all 10 finalists (emerging brands) had their own authentic take on sustainability. Left feeling hopeful.

Ever noticed how much of life is people trying to sell you stuff? If you elected not to engage with any of it, to stop buying non-essential stuff, & stop paying attention to all the associated ideas (from holiday sales to founder stories) think of all the time you’d save. What could you do with it?
