My students love reading novels in verse. I will definitely use the "epic album you read the lyrics to" when selling NIV to students.
Graphic novels get devoured at our school and I’ve heard the same from librarians everywhere.
NIV are sleeper hits for my students once I convince them it’s less short form nature poetry and more epic album you read the lyrics to.

As a MG author on submission, I hate hearing that MG is in a slump, although I’ve heard it said before. However, I love hearing from a middle school librarian who says kids are reading more than ever! I think shorter books are one of the keys. More NIV and graphic novels too!
