Getting my ‘book blankets’ laid out this eve - that must mean its time for another ‘Finding Their Story’ book club day! Week 3 of 4 this week for both my lovely groups. I’m excited to see what the children make of this week’s recs & what they have say about the books they borrowed last week 🫶📚
October 8, 2025 at 8:17 PM
Week 2 for both book club groups today: following the directions readers are guiding me in as they tell me about themselves & their reading preferences, exposing them to books they might enjoy & letting them explore/choose what they want to try out next 🧭🗺️

Happy National Poetry Day! Today I’m sharing Benjamin Zephaniah’s Poem ‘People Need People’ illustrated by Nila Aye. A simple poem about the importance of community, friendship & relationship for us all & I don’t think the reminder could be any more timely 💙🌎 #peopleneedpeople

I can’t wait to share these recommendations with my ‘Finding their Story’ book clubs at Stanley Grove Primary & Jerry Clay Primary tomorrow! I’m excited to see which they’re most drawn to in each group from my curated lists based on what they told me about themselves 🥰 #readeridentity

Loving listening to @justimaginecentre.bsky.social Nikki Gamble interviewing Matt Goodfellow launching ‘The First Year’ this evening. Hearing Matt read aloud from the book, talk about the characters & their journeys, poetry, language and school is such a joy 🙏

Then an inspiring time with the @jcenglishhub.bsky.social OU/UKLA Teachers’ Reading Group this afternoon. We explored poetry, informal book talk & thought about the progress of our own projects. Such a thoughtful & motivated group!

Fab recommendations shared by just some of the group:
