Totally. In other countries mostly center parties are doing what they can to box out the far right from power (France, Germany) but here what's happened is a coalition between the far right and far left have coalesced on a bunch of contrarian policies in public health, foreign policy and degrowth.

I agree that not letting insurance companies use forward looking risk models in an area of increasing risk has turned into a problem. But there are insurance issues across the country, the gulf coast in particular. And they don't have the same restrictions California has.

This is a good point. It looks easier than it is. But the switches I think of that seem off are the ones that look like blatant matchup hunting (thinking Lebron here).

Obviously not the largest issue with this point but to synthesize the two conversations going on on my timeline: it's interesting that there's a large "what's wrong with the nba" discussion right after lots of nba twitter migrated to Bluesky.

I coach a HS basketball team. 10 years ago everyone watched the TNT games the night before. Get to practice and talk about them. Now no one watches, just saw clips on social media. We still talk about them.
