Climb up Skiddaw in amazing wintery conditions. Amazing views abounded. Couldn’t get up Gale Road due to ice, so longer walk than planned but well worth the effort 9.2m 2792ft ascent

Itinerary sorted and accommodation booked for Japan visit in May. We fly in/out of Osaka, so no Tokyo visit this time. From landing we’ll go straight up to Kyoto, then onto Kanazawa, then down to Nara, across to Hiroshima be returning to see Osaka before flying home #JapanTravel

Wild camp in this special place and trying out new NatureHike Star River UL, really impressed, acres of space inside and huge vestibules in either side, all in a sub 2kg pack 👍

Spent this evening with a friend from the past, Spike Lee’s 1990 Mo Better Blues - still as brilliant as it was when I saw it 30 years ago in Leeds as a student. Luminous, human shaped and saturated with love for jazz music. A true classic!

Trialing subscription to Outdoor Active for walks planning - has full OS Landranger and Explorer maps (along with OpenStreetMaps) for planning and on hike tracking, and also has a nice augmented reality live view that shows peaks names and distances
