Rectangle of jersey construction idea, sorry for bad drawing, I did it on my phone.
A badly finger sketched digital drawing of how I might use a rectangle of jersey, to make the sock bag. Fold the long side edges in to the center. Small middle red line is a seam for the phone part, then red lines for the seams on the top and bottom. Blue line in the center where the edges of the rectangle come together, cut through the other side. Generally jersey won't fray, probably test the material first. You could do this with the seams on the inside or visible external, decorative seams.

Free form machine quilted cotton bag. experimenting w/ bags that have leftover batting in the front and back, something structured w/out buying special interfacing/etc, ideally not too heavy.
Shape is partly from trying to keep the drawstring. Cloth from the bag an ikea comforter came in
