History HoD in Hampshire. Pompey born and bred. Massive nerd who loves all things History, especially the Russian Revolution, the Balkans in the 20th century and post-WWII Britain. Passionate about curriculum, teaching and assessment.
There are few explanations I try and rehearse more than my "why the 21st century has years beginning with 20" talk with the new Y7s. This might be the first year they've all kind of got it... I hope.

Great account from Father Dolling, an East End priest sent to help the people of Portsmouth in the 19th century. Some great local history for teachers in Hampshire. We've incorporated into our Health and the People course. If anyone wants the full lesson, give me a shout!

Just come back to my classroom to find my poster of Attlee on the floor. How the mighty have fallen indeed.

How special are those moments where you watch/read something and it INSTANTLY inspires a lesson.

This happened recently after watching a masterclass in historical documentary making: Lucy Worsley on George III...

So I left 'Teacher Twitter' a couple of years back following all things X etc. etc...

I've decided it's time to re-engage with the wider history teaching community.

Therefore, and I'm very aware I'm writing this with absolutely no followers at present, here is a little bit about myself...
