I was in Wales recently admiring the dark skies of the Elan Valley. I was delighted to see they'd even caught meteors in their photo.

Until I realised they hadn't.

I'm so sorry for America. I am in contact with three people who live there. An aged aunt, a museum director and my second cousin. All female. They don't know each other but are united in their despair and hatred of Trump.

I visited my aged aunt in Kentish Town last weekend and then took a trip down memory lane to the house where she and my mother grew up. Opposite was a pub where my Nana worked and my Pop imbibed and from which my great aunt went on trips.

The pub was fabulous. No nonsense. Good beer.

A most moving few minutes as survivors placed candles.
This noble lady was the last and the sight of it all - and doubtless the memories - caused her to break down.

We must never forget.
