Yeah but I don’t purge my students and hold show trials for them, so it all balances out.

As a history teacher I’m definitely on the side of the former.

It’s frustrating how people’s perceptions of politicians diverge from reality. Something I was struck by in @samfr.bsky.social’s book is that most people would probably say politicians are less principled than they used to be, but in fact they are more likely to rebel against the party whip now.

The thing that boggles my mind is how slow it was to find information. We’ve come to take it for granted that it’s all just a Google search away. I remember doing a project as a kid and writing to city councils all over the country asking them to send me stuff I could look up online now in seconds.

I guess D&T doesn’t really count as an art, but the DfE is considering doing some weird other thing with that anyway.

I’ve always had my suspicions about Ben, to be fair.

Maybe if you were less muddled it would be easier.

De rien!

Yes this occurred to me too. I think languages are the canary in the coal mine but we’re not far behind.

What do you mean it’s not your fault? You’re the one who said it was written in an ‘adult’ way. Just be thankful I didn’t take that angle!

I stand corrected.

Agree, but as a point of information I’m not sure you can ooze something positive.

Can’t imagine who you might be thinking of.

Gotcha. So a good example of my concerns about DfE response not being faithful to review.
November 5, 2025 at 4:34 PM
Not sure I follow.
November 5, 2025 at 4:29 PM
Exactly. It’s not that I hate that idea, just that the extra things create workload and risk incoherence.

Overall I think @beckyfrancis.bsky.social and her team have done a very impressive job in difficult circumstances. A lot of my concerns are about the DfE’s interpretation of recommendations/what happens when it hits politics rather than the review itself. I hope it can lead to real improvement.
