Yeah - and Grok continues to double down on it.
I wondered if the correction notes had sunk in, so just checked again.
No, the AI for X continues to promote a hate-mongering falsehood as fact.

I’ve done that but am, sadly, not holding my breath.

They had a relevant finding for Dorset.
In Bournemouth 51 asylum seekers (or people who gave hotels where they stayed as addresses) were responsible for *116* offences.
Remember that these offences were not just sexual assaults.

The Mail got figures for
- a 3 year period
- of all crimes (so not just sex offences but also theft & drug offences)
- by people who gave their addresses as hotels used for accommodating asylum-seekers

This claim went viral on right-wing Twitter being shared by prominent accounts including Tommy Robinson's to millions of followers.
Grok treated it as a news story (and true) while it was repeated by multiple accounts

The person who made the claim was The Telegraph's Alison Pearson, appearing on Patrick Christys GB News show on Thursday night.

A national newspaper journalist went on a British TV channel to claim police stats showed asylum-seekers committed 44% of sex crimes in Dorset.
This shocking claim was treated as fact by the channel which promoted the clip on social media where it was amplified by AI.
Except... it's bollocks.

Just realised I posted the wrong image for The Guardian. As I said it actually did run it on the cover, but not as the lead.

But I do suspect the differences in press attention, along with the lack of social media and rolling news, are why people forget how much worse and more prevalent violence was in the 1990s.
I don’t recall commentators freaking out that they were terrified to go to supermarkets.

It’s fascinating comparing the front page coverage of the Huntingdon train attack (below) with how the British press treated another case 30 years ago.
I’m referring to the 1995 Netto supermarket attack in Birmingham in which a man stabbed 10 people, killing one of them.

The Bunny Vs Monkey event with @jamiesmart.bsky.social was a joy.
Yeah, the kids there liked it, fine, but I got to spend an hour sketching stuff like the insane cat Looshkin and a FARTING TREE with a bum in it. So I was happy.

I finally read the 2013 Sun article about Zack Polanski the right is weaponising.
Weird bits I'd not heard mentioned was that the writer
1) felt it worked and;
2) thinks Zack's a hottie ("He’s in dark slacks and a tight-fitting jumper but I try to ignore the resemblance to Marvin from JLS.")

The Conservatives’ plans to slash arts degrees shows a depressing lack of understanding about Britain’s creative industries.
For crying out loud, it's 12 years since the “Next Gen” report emphasised that the games and film industries needed arts graduates as well as those who'd studied comp science.

Sad to hear the news about Jilly Cooper. She was one of those rare public figures who was exactly as you’d hoped she would be in real life.
Back when she was writing her 2006 school-set novel Wicked! she phoned up The Times Educational Supplement for advice on inspections and got put through to me.

A quarter of a million people recently attended a rally (Tommy Robinson's) where preacher Brian Tamaki was cheered for calling for the banning of ALL religions in the UK apart from Christianity.
But the stupid leaked memo suggests it's Labour supporters who are raring to organise a pogrom. 🙄
