Indeed Robb has deemed me unworthy.

I disagree!

Indeed! 🌈

My goal is to not use the word prove as it pertains to scientific theories.
Use it as you please in everyday colloquial terms, or in mathematics.
January 23, 2025 at 2:33 PM
Yes I agree with that .
Colloquial usage seems to be the norm. Alas, it is causing the loss of the precision of the word.

It’s a good thing that we generally agree and that you’ve clarified your usage—the potential problem is others would quote-mine you and use that for their silly arguments.

Apologies for the inaccurate quote.

I’d use words like “demonstrated” or “shown” instead of “proven”.

For example, “The theory of evolution has shown that when environments change, organisms are likely to adapt…”.

Or “The Inflation Theory has been shown to be the best understanding of the evidence of …”

I’d like to clarify that no scientific theory is ever “proven”. The word prove is not ever the right word to describe scientific theories. Sure, it’s used in mathematics because it is true that given mathematical postulates, certain inferences are logically airtight.
January 23, 2025 at 2:00 PM
The Big Bang IS a scientific theory. Not “still a theory” —as if it’s going to graduate to a higher level of status at some point later.

Scientific theories are the best form of scientific understanding we have of a topic/concept/phenomenon. It’s the top level, as it were, of our levels of

Masturbation feels good too!
January 23, 2025 at 1:39 PM
Hahaha
January 23, 2025 at 1:32 PM
So what? People do that to each other all the time!

YES. For the tiniest disagreement, you’ve just implied that I am a “militant atheist”—-I was expecting thay to happen, and you proved me right.
January 23, 2025 at 1:31 PM
And you disagree because it’s not your style. Fine. But to say “nothing is worse” than militant atheist, is pure hyperbole. Send your misplaced ire towards right wing legislators like MTG and their ilk.

Give me real examples of other atheists demanding that you “agree with them 100%”
