Meanwhile it sounds like Palmer pretends she's still a couch-surfing busker, freeloads off the vulnerable while claiming they're friends, then abandons them once they become inconvenient. That song lyric is gross - it blames Gaiman not for his abuse but for burdening her with his leftovers.

It's so much worse than I realized. I still found the article worth reading because it's a tutorial on the sort of monster who makes his victims feel culpable. Gaiman targets vulnerable people and strolls right over their boundaries then gaslights them.

Free returns. The boots fit based on their sizing guide, they were just oddly designed. Much too tight at the front of the uppers and too loose in the back even when laced tightly, so that they were yanked up and down across my heel on every step even though the length was right.

An epidemiologist friend had this to say (abridged):

Please do not get a cholera or typhoid vaccine. Both are low efficacy for a short time period (like ~50-60% for ~1-3 years) and in very limited supply. Instead prepare with bleach or PuR sachets for water treatment. These will be more effective.

Waterfront cities are going to have to rethink the whole underground tunnel thing.

Too bad we just spent $25 billion on a big one.

They'll make handy Venice-style canals though.

Two week heat wave in Boston, of temperatures 10 degrees above average.

High ocean temps have created a pressure barrier that's steaming us like a dumpling.

2nd highest average July temp in history, and we're only 10 days into the month.

The previous highest average was in July 2023.

It's rich in some respects and pretty thin in others. I'm surprised at how hard it is to find a good tech community here, but there's a lot of neat art + science stuff going on.
