This changes the framing of the discussion. The problem isn't Israel but rather Israeli racism and Jewish ethno-nationalism within Israel. After that it's up to defenders of current day Israel to make the case for Israeli racism & ethno-nationalism without sounding like genocide backing fascists.

In simple terms a Zionist is anyone who supports either a one-state Israel or the two-state solution. Anti-Zionism means support for a one-state Palestine (whatever form it might take in reality) I think Mamdani is a non-zionist which means he recognises Israel but doesn't support ethno-nationalism

But one thing the campists are right about is the western imperialist doesn't help Ukraine because it loves democracy. They see the Ukraine situation as a geopolitical and business opportunity, highlighting that Ukrainian liberation continues after Russia's defeat, against western capitalism.

All they are really saying is that they want the aesthetic of being anti-fascist while actually agreeing with fascists on this policy.

It means creating a world where African, Asian and Arab nations aren't treated as something to be invaded, controlled and exploited by western nations.

In short, anti-racism means working class solidarity and international socialism.

To abolish racism doesn't just mean "accommodating" POC inside western nations with polite language and their little corner of capitalism for their shops, it means destroying the very idea of white and black people by abolishing the power dynamics completely domestic & overseas.

The abolition of racism would also mean the end of neo-colonialism in Africa, the end of corporations using slave labour in Africa early on in production, a reconfiguring of geopolitics were African, Asian and Arab voices would matter more than American presidents.

We need also reflect on the fact that liberal anti-racism is about reforming racism rather than abolishing it. Corporations wouldn't be showing their support for it if it was actually going to dismantle racism wholesale - which includes US foreign policy.

Today, I would argue that transpeople are the non-white whites. They have been labeled the enemy of the west & the white majority inside it. Trans POC are also affected by this as a ripple effect of the non-whiteness of white trans people.

In South Africa, under the apartheid, when the government wanted to secure trade deals for Japanese cars it found a way round it's policy of only trading with white people - it reclassified the Japanese as "honorary whites" making them part of the "white race" rather than Asian.

And let's not forget the long history of judeophobia that eventually became antisemitism. White Jews were always considered something different, often dangerous (due to antisemitism) from the white people they lived beside.

An additional complication is white skinned Europeans aren't always categorised as white. During the British colonialisation of Ireland, the Irish were categorised as black, later when Africans were dehumanised as "chimps" the Irish were re-labelled "White Chimpanzees".

The first example of this is the black albino, despite their white skin they are still black. This means whiteness is not simply a question of appearance & given Europeans can be of various colours it isn't a sign of being European either, additionally the white race doesn't exist either.

The first usage of the word "white" appears simple enough. Someone has white skin, however this isn't straight forward and leads us straight to point two. Not all white skinned people are white & some non-white people are.
