Currently pondering a move to St Kilda or Rockall or South Georgia or somewhere else I can just hole up while the world continues to descend into chaos. If it wasn't essential for my job, I'd never look at the news again.

Trying to decide where to go this summer. I'm flexible as to where to go, but I don't want to fly. However, it's frustrating that train travel is prohibitively expensive (and the coach isn't cheap...and really slow).

@teachertapp.bsky.social I dislike questions like this because it feels impossible to answer such a complex, multifaceted issue. I'm not sure what use clicking on a radio button is because it lacks any nuance. By picking something, it implies something I don't necessarily believe.

Made it #Manchester! I wasn't planning on being here, but I am until 02:45 and I get the coach to Brum. If you had ~6 hrs to kill in the middle of the Mancunian night, what would you do? @woollyvix.bsky.social any suggestions?!
Please cheer me up by sharing your #travel disasters with me. I've made the very stupid (and expensive) mistake of going to the wrong airport. I've had to book a new flight to Manchester, an 11-hour coach journey to Stansted and extend my JustPark booking.

I swear whenever something horrible happens, many on the right are hoping the perpetrator is a brown/black Muslim, while many on the left hope they're white British. Many seem glad that horrible things happen so they can have ammunition for their agenda.

In Oslo for a short half term break. There is virtually no car traffic (lots of bikes and bakfietsen), even on the main roads. It's actually quite eerie when you're used to Bristol and Bath. I love it! Why can't we have this @saskiaheijltjes.bsky.social?!

I don't say this often, but the UK deserved better this #Eurovision. A fantastic song, genuinely talented singers and authenticity. We've entered some dross in recent years that I've thought deserved to crash, but not #RememberMonday.

While I did this for a laugh, there's a serious point to be made about why it defaulted to a white male. I asked #ChatGPT why and it gave a surprisingly thoughtful response and acknowledged biases. Good topic for a blog post I've decided to write over half term.
I asked #ChatGPT what it thought I looked like based on the tasks I use it for and, I've got to say, I'm worried I am a complete walking stereotype! #GeographyTeacher #Teacher #Geography #Geology

Busy weekend ahead. Seeing my new niece for the first time and brother-in-law's birthday tomorrow, then hiking on Sunday through the Mendips with some of our year 9 boarders and day students. Should be a lovely weekend for it!

Fabulous weather for our bronze DofE practice hike along the Cotswold Way. I especially enjoyed the metal hell hounds and grim reaper.

While I am no longer teaching geography, I am helping with fieldwork. Fantastic trip to Dunraven/Bad Wolf Bay yesterday. Check out that wave-cut platform!

One of the things about going to a new social media app is I don't know anyone on here. Where are all the #teachers and environmental people? Would be good to follow some more people! #geographyteacher #biologyteacher

Life update. I'm no longer teaching geography, but biology! This is mostly because geography jobs are non-existent where I live, so I'm looking to move. I am enjoying biology teaching though. Good to add yet another subject to my teaching arsenal!
Might give this social media thing a go again. Abandoned Twitter, but after a few months away from social media, interested to see if things are better here.

#StormDaragh is finally forcing me to get a get a new fence. Most of my garden is covered with glass after a neighbour's greenhouse shattered and the partition fence toppled.

Anyone know of any good #Nollywood films that could possibly be used to support the teaching of globalisation? Films about the #Nigerian diaspora perhaps? A long shot I know! #Nigeria #geographyteacher #cinephiles

Fantastic article on Oasis Restore. It's clear we need a different approach to young offending, and I'm looking forward to following this initiative. www.thetimes.com/uk/education...

The pupils are murderers, drug dealers and gang members. In the past they would have been locked up for 22 hours a day. But can a radical school in Kent change their lives? Rachel Sylvester, the first...

A relative shares stuff from random Facebook pages with me. I never know how to respond without sounding like a condescending douche. I appreciate they think I'll find it interesting, but random Facebook pages are not the best source. #geographyteacher
