I think that will be a lesson they will all learn eventually. Absolutely the right call there!

Absolutely on board with that! I’m hoping more schools and school leaders take that approach.

That’s a big concern of mine too. Using the tool personally, I jumped right to having it work for me in the beginning. Now it’s more of a thought partner and idea generator for me.

If I was able, I would show that transformation to my students. It would certainly help many of them.

Well then you are lucky. I see in many schools there is still a focus on teaching information and student regurgitating information on tests. Less emphasis has been put on human skills in school, but these are the skills businesses want to see developed and the ones kids need.

Absolutely on board with that. I like changing “school” to community. That has a nice ring to it.

This is a phenomenal plan of action!

Good pedagogy means moving on from simply giving students information and testing them on information. That’s my main point. Standardized testing needs to disappear, and more human skills need to be prioritized in education.

By skills focused, you mean focused on standards to complete a test. I want the skills to be more human skills, ones that aren’t tested like the 4c’s, but most teachers don’t have time for that because we have to teach for tests

They don’t have to only differentiate with AI. It makes it much faster and easier to disseminate to the students.

I see your point about IEP’s. I guess I see that only helps some students and not most.

AI is pedagogical if it’s used correctly and ethically.

AI has pushed that conversation around pedagogy to happen. Things are possible now that weren’t before. That’s why I started the post with education is outdated…

The idea of knowledge acquisition and being part of a manufacturing society hasn’t changed at all. School is still focused on knowledge acquisition when that can be done with computers and the internet. We should be teaching what to do with information rather than the information itself.
January 22, 2025 at 3:38 AM
IEP’s are separate from this conversation. We are legally obligated to differentiate for them. But it is impossible to differentiate for each individual student; which is where AI can come in. As enrichment, or remediation, AI can assist us when we are helping others.

Number of students who are using AI apps at home is on the rise

They are using it to relearn or study materials. Sometimes even using it to do the work for them.

AI has the power to change our system but most educators aren’t taking the time to learn…
January 22, 2025 at 3:25 AM
We need to begin to adapt to different learning styles to accommodate different student needs in the classroom. We have lots of teachers still using old pedagogy that is not effective at all…
