Infosec, loud dumb rock music, Fortean stuff, Sega, old games, dogs, lots of dogs.
Anyone who disagrees with them is never a real Britain or voter, they’re an activist or some over label.

They might or might not believe it, but they believe we should try to get there using tax cuts for the reasonably well off and upwards and dishing out money to companies, work or not, they’ll get the money so it’s win-win from their POV.

If they stuck Farage in the lords as he wants, it’d be problem over, his musings on reform lords a month or so ago felt very much an offer you can’t refuse - nice country, be a shame to see me run it.

Ultimately they think only their white right wing demographic counts - real voters, silent majority, red wall etc counts so they hate anything that’s not about them - connects with their other attitudes, the need for deference and gratitude the rest of us are allowed to live here.

It’s control for me, on a number of levels. It’s seen as breaking rules, queue jumping whatever. And then you get the dimension that a chunk of the nation thinks the rest of it should be grateful for being allowed to live on the same bit of rock and that it should always be in charge…

Apple also has a problem. It’ll want AI to drive hardware sales but it’ll want people to use its AI no matter what to keep up - but if I can do that I don’t need to upgrade, but if I do I might not use their AI…. It’s a conundrum..

Both Apple and Google were late to SM and failed with late entries, both have let products wither on the vine (Siri hasn’t done much in a decade, Google shuts loads stuff down after it sits there for years).

Never got rid of mine and continued buying CDs and dvd boxed sets from charity shops as I just couldn’t give the buzz of a bargain up, run my own media centre and it looks like I’ll have to up my game a bit as stuff keeps vanishing off services…

I didn’t think it was that bad but that’s because (charitably) I was never a massive fan.

The BBC coverage didn’t show sabbath or priest until 2am and then 1 song each

Management are always very keen that workers care about customers, management themselves, not so much - capital cares we care, itself care -
Not so much…

My gut feeling is that it was the loss of control and personal freedom - it’s driving a lot of things, people don’t want to have to change behaviour, even a touch and don’t like the idea they might have been responsible. They also really don’t want to pay for anything….

They use a scalpel - they took Bush to the cleaners 2 decades ago and I have no doubt they have wargamed most outcomes, they’ll try to be subtle but I suspect they have a range of focused retaliatory measures ready

I find myself repeating my paraphrase of something said about Don King to death in the way he treated his fighters - “rather earn a dishonest fiver than an honest tenner”.
It applies to a lot.
July 12, 2025 at 10:32 AM
Taught that way at business school, the last thing to do as it has an effect overall - the idea of “the market will raise wages” is cobblers. Also control. Also it doesn’t have to, it just has to profit the individuals making the deal, they will think no further than the end of their bonus period
July 12, 2025 at 8:25 AM
They’ll rip off the Simpsons character for the AI voice - of course they won’t officially license it….
July 12, 2025 at 7:38 AM
It’s what the right do, legislate or deregulate and then issue orders that someone else has to come up with the detail - and when it fails as they did SFA, resort to carping and conspiracy theory.
July 12, 2025 at 7:30 AM
Also, what people don’t realise is that AI doesn’t have to work, managers just have to buy it, implement it, make the savings now, collect the bonus and scarper before the dust settles. AI will take the blame, not management and the conus can’t be clawed back.

Yep - accents, instant translation, speed to texts etc and speed the whole thing up. McDonald’s would also like to do with this what they have done with the big instore self serve tills and app functionality, get rid of till workers.
July 12, 2025 at 7:26 AM
This is always my question to them, if you do think it’s natural, what is your plan to deal with it?
June 17, 2025 at 8:53 PM
Either there’s a large section of the right that cannot believe people disagree with it - “real voters, silent majority, patriots, ordinary people” etc or they do this to delegitimise any opposing views - either way they believe theirs is the only way
June 17, 2025 at 11:55 AM
For me many are doing it as a short term way to maximise profits and share prices for a year or so, banks the resulting bonuses and move on before the dust settles - we of course will have to suffer
June 7, 2025 at 11:28 AM
I said 2 years ago, it’ll be like outsourcing, what they’re sold isn’t what they get and the loss of control, insight and lack of being able to manage it, means that a % gets pulled back, in the mean time we’ll all suffer.
