Want to encourage everyone to consider registering for Robert’s performance of ‘Count Magnus’. Whether you view it tonight, or any time after, you’ll be glad you did.

Did a little ink study from one of my favorite scenes in the classic Danish film ‘Haxan’.

Here’s a few portraits I’ve done of Machen over the years—-likely not the last, lol.

A glimpse at a piece from a new body of work. A rush from further out

Did I love “Andy Kaufman Creeping Through The Trees”? No, it unsettled me like nothing else I had ever read, so much so that I had to paint a picture of Andy as Tony Clifton to exorcise it from my system. Never finished it, but Julie Vellum was alongside with him
in the basement covered in fungus

October awakenings. Detail from an illustration done a few years ago.

Titled this ‘Beware the Friendly Stranger’ after the Boards of Canada song of the same name. This can be seen on my instagram account with the song in accompaniment. The music conveyed a sense of the outre that I hoped to achieve visually.

I’ve always liked the punched up values for the cover of ‘The Occultation’ but here’s the unedited version, which I think feels less dramatic and more quiet. Some folks probably haven’t seen this version (cropped)

I would’ve heard these in 99 or so, but both were extremely formative (and I think they’re perfect)

The art museum is world class. Cannot recommend it enough. Here’s a massive piece I got to see by romantic era painter John Martin that’s in the collection

Snake priests of Y'ha-nthlei. A back cover detail from @johnlangan.bsky.social ‘Children of the Fang’. I wore my Frazetta/Jeffrey Catherine Jones influence proudly on my sleeve painting this one.

And something for international cat day, my rendition of Menes from Lovecraft’s ‘The Cats of Ulthar’

An old ink portrait of Dean Stockwell as Wilbur Whatley in the 1970 adaptation of Lovecraft’s ‘The Dunwich Horror’. Dripping with atmosphere (and much appreciated schlock), it’s become a favorite movie of mine. IÄ Yog Sothoth, the key and the gate..’but why?’

A couple of pieces I did for the Cadabra Records production of James’ ‘Count Magnus’, masterfully read by @nunkie.bsky.social . The second illustration is referencing Magnus’s ‘Black Pilgrimage’

Hey all. I’ve been asked to join @michaeldylandavis.bsky.social on the Lovecraft E-zine podcast this Sunday and talk about some of the cover art I’ve done in the weird fiction/horror genre. @johnlangan.bsky.social will also be there to talk about the imminent release of ‘Lost in the Dark…’!

A recent portrait of the old welsh bard, Arthur Machen. His writing and ideas have impacted my life like few others (which is to say I’ll probably be doing more portraits of him)
