The latter half of the '90s was a great time for power pop fans (Fountains of Wayne, The Posies, The Shazam, Superdrag, Splitsville, et al). My favorite LP from all this was from this Swedish trio, Melony. Hooks galore.

To take advantage of the success of The Pipkins and The Sweet, EMI budget subsidiary Music for Pleasure released a split LP. It had The Pipkins' hit...and some early flops Sweet recorded for EMI before they moved to RCA and hit with "Funny Funny" and other bubblegum songs.

This is all covered in this book. I had a copy as a kid, lost it, and ordered a copy right after Casey died, for much cheaper than the $77 a used copy goes for now on Amazon. It has anecdotes and lists each act's Top 40 hits. And some essays, including one from Greg Shaw of Bomp Magazine.
