Jitters behind the scenes would be understandable. The band’s final tour in North America, supporting their 2008 album Dig Out Your Soul, visited venues half the size of these prospective dates. They performed at New York’s 20,000-capacity Madison Square Gardens, but also at Broomfield, Colorado’s relatively modest 6,500-capacity 1stBank Center. At the height of their fame during 1996, the band was playing to 125,000 people a night at England’s Knebworth House; in the U.S. however, Oasis’ biggest crowds would peak with support slots on U2’s mammoth PopMart tour in 1997. The group’s word-of-mouth appeal rarely translated to sustained and consistent ticket sales. Oasis have had limited luck on the Billboard charts. None of their eight studio albums ever topped the Billboard 200, their highest entry being 1997’s Be Here Now, which clocked in at No. 2. 1995’s (What’s The Story) Morning Glory?, however, has gone 4 x Platinum according to the RIAA (Recording Industry Association of America). As for singles, “Wonderwall” peaked at No. 8 on the Billboard Hot 100, but the rest never had a sniff beyond “Don’t Look Back In Anger” at No. 55.

But now they just played for 52,000 at Soldier Field. They were never even close to this popular here back in their heyday

for what it's worth, Ian (who I had never heard of before today) very much agrees with you and makes this exact argument in his full substack post
Treating women like they are actual human beings will make you more attractive. It will also give you a richer, deeper life. We talk about the friendzone as if it was the worst thing that could happen to someone. Sometimes people will go further and tell you that men and women simply can never be friends. They will actively encourage you to impoverish your life in the same way they have theirs. In fact, life without friendships with the opposite sex is a barren, pointlessly stunted thing. There is probably no worse emotional punishment you can inflict on yourself. Society is also improved by this approach. Men's treatment of women like objects isn't just about sexualisation - it's about making them into opaque things, objects of haunting indecipherable mystery which we cannot understand or therefore empathise with. That is where so many of our current problems come from - the chasm of incomprehension and the snarling vicious myths about status and power which are cultivated within it.
