I bet she had a vague idea that pleading the fifth can result in a negative inference in civil cases but didn't realize how it works in criminal cases. It's truly terrible lawyering on her part.

Same. The high schoolers I taught and tutored in my early 20s seemed impossibly younger than I. They were clearly children!

A skill he honed shilling for tobacco companies.

They're not even dyed-in-the-wool contrarians, is the thing. Friedman is a dim bulb that thinks it's a floodlight while Gladwell is a guy who figured out how to tell centimillionaires what they like to hear and then repackage it for people who think literacy ends with knowing the alphabet.
November 16, 2025 at 8:10 PM
Thomas Friedman and Malcolm Gladwell have been symptoms of this since the 90s.

It's the sort of tenacity that will serve her well as a first year associate!

Granted a source anonymity to smear someone? Courageous journalism.

Bedsores are a real drag.

Huh. You'd think men with kids would feel the bite of childcare costs more strongly. Even high income households have gotta feel the pinch of paying tens of thousands of $$$ a year on childcare for kids under 12.

MAGA (wrongly) believes that > 100 million undocumented immigrants live in the USA. He knows his audience.

Trump is definitely authoritarian but nit totalitarian. But Vance and many Trump regime members would love to implement a totalitarian regime of some sort.
November 7, 2025 at 1:59 PM
Expelled? No, liberated from an insurrectionist and tyrannical state government regime.
November 7, 2025 at 1:56 PM
Yeah, you need to get past 20 years between titles for it to work out, like it did for Baldur's Gate 3.

Unlike Cuomo, Sliwa clearly loves NYC.
November 5, 2025 at 5:22 PM
Turns out she didn't need to abandon any issues and racked up a big win, huh?
November 5, 2025 at 2:44 PM
Good call, counselor.
November 4, 2025 at 8:09 PM
What positions should Sherrill have abandoned? I live in NY and am politically engaged but I can't identify what policies or positions Sherrill has taken that's made her too liberal in the minds of NJ moderates when compared to Ciatarelli.

Why is it that the GOP can cherry pick from the most unhinged democratic voters on a low-salience issue and win but democrats can't win by highlighting the GOP's hugely unpopular positions on high salient issues?
November 4, 2025 at 2:10 PM
Progressive wins gained by the NY legislature when voters finally broke Cuomo's pro-GOP IDC faction. If you paint Cuomo as progressive, you *must* grapple with Cuomo's backing of a group that conspired to keep the NY legislature under GOP control for years despite a Dem majority.

And what they think they know is woefully incorrect.

It must be frustrating to see that Trump gutting and overthrowing institutions is what animates liberals against him, huh?
October 28, 2025 at 5:35 PM
I know. It's maddening that MAGA friendly billionaires control the information environment and that voters are stupid. We have to work within those constraints.
