Maker, gamer, humanist, just trying to be a person with Star Trek ideals in a world more in line with Warhammer 40K.
The fact that Daniella Weiss has been nominated for a Nobel Prize tells you how deeply unserious the whole concept is.

Not without a fight, per se. More so that the future of the country relies on the duopoly being upended, but I don't know how that comes to pass when both sides oppose it.

So I guess you could say more that I agree with your sentiment, but fear the violence that would be required to see it happen.

That's a fair point. I was referring to the party that won the greatest number of counted votes of those who decided to/were allowed to, that is to say, the more right-wing of our two parties.

Not that I think that party holds true demographic majority, but the system was designed that way.

You have to fix the electoral systems first. With current systems, there will always be a duopoly, and the Dems benefit enough from the win/lose rhythm that even they don't want it to change, even if it means standing by while billionaires and private equity strip-mine the economy.

I think you mean the corporatist oligarchs that own the majority party. You know, the ones giving press conferences while the "majority's darling" sits sulking in his cuck chair...

To be fair, it seems that with so many of the voters on the right finding out how much this is screwing them too, "the majority" and the ones who don't know how government works (or rather deliberately doesn't work) are a circle on the Venn diagram.

Excuse me sir, but where is the profit in that? WON'T SOMEBODY PLEASE THINK OF THE POOR SHAREHOLDERS!?

I feel you. I'm not sure what will break first, my need to get up at 4 or my 100% caffeine-fueled vascular system.

I'd argue it's closer to the puppet governments that America installs after they topple a burgeoning left-wing government.

Given the kind of weaponry the US is sending to obliterate Palestinians for doing that exact thing, I shudder to think how scorched-earth they would go if the territory in question was instead what the US took.

Look at it this way, you can only get better from here.

My most interesting shelf is probably the "for reference, mostly" one I'm putting together for my workshop space (clearly still a work in progress 😅)

The mayor of Thiberville is named Guy Paris...I envision a kind of drive-thru "pay it forward" chain in the making

The eternal struggle. They are the place for things you feel you need to keep, but want so badly not to that you'll put them somewhere you'll never go.
