P PROPUBLICA • At least 452 civilians were killed in 107 raids. This number is almost certainly an undercount. While some raids did result in the capture or death of known militants, others killed bystanders or appeared to target people for no clear reason. • A troubling number of raids appear to have relied on faulty intelligence by the CIA and other U.S. intelligence-gathering services. Two Afghan Zero Unit soldiers described raids they were sent on in which they said their targets were chosen by the United States. • The former head of Afghanistan's intelligence agency acknowledged that the units were getting it wrong at times and killing civilians. He oversaw the Zero Units during a crucial period and agreed that no one paid a consequence for those botched raids. He went on to describe an operation that went wrong: "I went to the family myself and said: 'We are sorry. ... We want to be different from the Taliban. And I mean we did, we wanted to be different from the Taliban." • The Afghan soldiers weren't alone on the raids; U.S. special operations forces soldiers working with the CIA often joined them. Balkanization has been presented to the US oligarchy as part of some would-be ‘political theory’ that would make them all feudal lords, but that narrative is the cover. The US oligarchy is very stupid, on a lot of drugs, and heavily blackmailed. It is easy to see who wants the US balkanized and in a civil war and why. I have been pointing out for a while that “The aim of the Trump/Putin regime has always been to balkanize the US.” Trump is the current instigator, with his threats to arrest New York state mayoral candidate Zohran Mamdani and the federal vilification and invasion theatre in California, DC, and elsewhere. This didn’t start with Trump, however. The separation rhetoric has been heating up for several years, accompanying similar rhetoric in the UK, Spain, Canada, and everywhere else that endures the same enemies. It is unlikely that impoverished states will be left to starve for long. They will probably enter some sort of alliance instead, and it will almost certainly be with your enemies. Are you willing to leave upcoming generations to live on the fringe of a Chinese or Russian vassal state, continually poking at your borders, usurping your legal authority and attempting to collapse your economy? Just imagine what Central American and other countries have had to live with from the US – that is what it looks like.

The question is: Do you want the US to continue as one unified country? If your answer is no, that is a momentous decision and one you should take responsibility over consciously making. Have you clearly thought through all of the options for recreating the country you have and found the obstacles so insurmountable that creating a new country seems an easier or better option? What will a new country look like? Will you still have any sort of a coalition with your former compatriots? Trading bloc? Currency? Defence agreement? What trade and defence agreements do you think you will be able to negotiate internationally, and do you think those will be on similar terms to what your region has currently negotiated as part of the US? No region of the US is a unified population politically. How will you prevent your separating bloc from disintegrating through further separations? How will you handle dissenters in your region and immigration from other states? If this is really what you want, the questions don’t stop there – they could easily fill books. Have you started gathering these questions and discussing the possible answers? If your answer is yes, what are your plans to reconnect as a unified country? If you think the better future will arrive as soon as half of your neighbours are dead, you probably aren’t headed towards reunification. At what point do you think the US turned towards self-destruction? If you are relying on the existing parties to guide you out of this or dreaming of “Obama III” or “a new Reagan” as a solution to anything, you have a lot of research still to do. Are you willing to continue growing and learning until you have a completely evolved system of governance? Because the current institutions have not been working for a very long time, if they ever did. What are your plans for de-escalation and reconciliation? Are you willing to participate with labour?... Forgiveness?... Are you willing to work on reconciliation for the rest of your life...

Samuel Adams, along with Joseph Warren and James Otis, re-formed the Boston Committee of Correspondence, which functioned as a form of shadow government, to address the fear of British overreach. Soon towns all over Massachusetts had formed their own committees, and many other colonies followed suit. These committees, which had between seven and eight thousand members in all, identified enemies of the movement and communicated the news of the day. Sometimes they provided a version of events that differed from royal interpretations, and slowly, the committees began to supplant royal governments as sources of information. They later formed the backbone of communication among the colonies in the rebellion against the Tea Act, and eventually in the revolt against the British crown.
