#iteachmath When will it be appropriate to call out the elephant size difference in time allocated to literacy and mathematics at the K-6 level? Yes both dropped on the PISA, but the time spent on literacy is so disproportionate that it's no wonder math starts and stays lower on these tests.

Feeling alone in a department that does not read current Ed trends, is not on social media as a PL group, and will not read a book to be part of a learning group. So strange to me that they are "good where they are" and don't know they have been left behind. ☹️

Starting a unit on probability and used jerrymandering as a counter example to random distribution.

The voice I don't hear is that of parents and that of the private schools. Lots of political voices... let's not forget, public money...public oversight. Most private schools don't want the oversight, or they would apply to be charters. Am I wrong?

For the first 5 minutes of the testing session, I have students put their writing utensils on the ground, I hand out the tests, and students can chat with each other about the test. So many students have mentioned how much this lowers their test anxiety and you hear the best math conversations!

What did I miss in the frameworks? No advanced math? Pretty sure they said to accelerate in HS...am I'm wrong?

Never seen a S in the "lower" track learn his way to the higher track w/o hearing + seeing how upper track understands. Why are Parents so stuck on this?
