One can’t exist without the other though. You can be frustrated with his decision making but that decision making exists within the context of a new experience as a manager. He’s far from a perfect manager but gotta hope this is a learning experience. The alternative mindset is too painful.

Back seat managing is just a lazy take. We didn’t execute when we needed to. Bottom of the lineup couldn’t drive in a run with runners on 2nd and 3rd one out and Bazardo made 1 bad pitch. Dan has his problems but he’s not the only reason we lost.

I get the frustration with Dan but it’s also his first postseason as a Manager and unfortunately that is a bumpy road to travel. Hoping he’ll get better and learn from this. Bigger problems need to be solved including better lineup/bench depth and more help in the bullpen.

At the end of the day I hope you’re right and it all works out. Been burned too many times hence the believe it when I see it. Most of us see they had a great opportunity to build something incredible after 22 and they did nothing for 2 years which killed a lot of goodwill
January 3, 2025 at 5:46 AM
That’s cool and all but are we just writing off true WS contending for the next two years then while we wait (again) for prospects to save us? We have the best rotation in baseball so you’d think you could use those prospects to trade for current proven MLB talent to win right now…
January 3, 2025 at 5:08 AM
Ok so humor me then when can we expect a WS and what point can M’s fans be pissed off for lack of results? From your point of view what do you define success as when it comes to the M’s?
January 3, 2025 at 4:31 AM
Yeah I like the starting pitching, Munoz, Julio and Cal but outside of that it’s shaky at best. In the M’s case we’re pissed off at cheap ownership who hasn’t delivered and we have every right to be mad. SF fans have high expectations so they’re right to be pissed when LA keeps spending and winning
January 3, 2025 at 4:28 AM
Because at what point is the waiting over? At what point are we going to push all the chips in the table to win a title? Seems like the dates continue to change and we are fed a bunch of bs that we just need to wait a little longer and that they’re doing us a favor as we miss the playoffs again…
January 3, 2025 at 4:11 AM
Yeah don’t care about getting burned anymore. We’re going on 50 years and only 5 playoff teams. Never made the WS. Go all in or don’t. We’re stuck in the same situation each year hoping it breaks the right way and we luck out all while clutching our pearls when it comes to prospects.
January 3, 2025 at 4:05 AM
Idk if we made a World Series it would buy a lot of goodwill. I’d take the Giants owner in a heartbeat because he’s got 3 WS titles. The M’s don’t deserve the benefit of the doubt and they’ve earned all the unrest as it’s all self inflicted. All we want is a WS, don’t care how we get there.
January 3, 2025 at 3:57 AM
A lot can happen but banking on internal options and hoping for bounce back performances is a really tough sell. I like Turner as a singular piece but everything else is a big gamble. The M’s are never proactive in roster building under Dipoto. We should rightly be skeptical until they deliver
January 3, 2025 at 3:28 AM
I get that a majority of owners are playing the same game but at least they deliver playoff teams more times than not. The gripe with Stanton is that he’s greedy with a team that has never succeeded and then gaslights the fan base every year by preaching patience and sustainability.
January 3, 2025 at 3:02 AM
Other issue is a lot of the money going into T-Mobile by the M’s has been on things the average fan doesn’t care about/can access such as the new Press Club seats and premium Diamond Club area upgrades.

Free Agency and Trades are risky too I get that, but to sit on our hands for multiple offseason and not go fully all in on this team is a slap in the face. The Marine Layer guys said it best, the only season that matters is next season, not 2026 and beyond.
January 1, 2025 at 12:10 AM
Still the M’s are operating off future concerns rather than current results. Prospects are risky you don’t know who will succeed and who will be another Dustin Ackley. Real issue is having an elite pitching staff that is cheap and not supplementing the roster to win now before you have to pay them
January 1, 2025 at 12:08 AM
Sure I get prioritizing retaining your guys but outside of Cal and Julio we have had no proven ability to internally generate offensive difference makers. Sucks that we are told to continually wait it out and that we are so close etc. when there were several moves that could’ve been made since ‘22
December 31, 2024 at 8:09 PM
Point being though that the M’s highlight the worst of this behavior and continue to treat the fan base like garbage. None of us are asking for Dodgers level spending but setting an arbitrary $15 million budget for this offseason is ridiculous. Tired of the goalposts being moved and being lied to.
December 31, 2024 at 7:30 PM
We are losing sight of the bigger picture of professional sports which is winning. Our ownership only cares about $ and we the fans suffer as a result. You can argue the Mariners gaslight fans more than anyone in baseball outside of the A’s and even then the A’s make the playoffs fairly often
December 31, 2024 at 5:49 PM
If Stanton and co are worried about $ then sell the team. Winning should be priority #1 when you are literally the only team to have never made a World Series. We’re way past worrying about possible bad contracts or future money. Invest in the on the field product and figure the rest out later.
December 31, 2024 at 3:10 AM
Unless something big is going on behind the scenes then this may be the worst offseason in franchise history. Not investing in legit MLB talent at 1B,2B,3B, and DH is wasting away a generational pitching staff. No more waiting or hoping for best case scenarios. Tired of being gaslit by Dipoto & co
