I am genuinely trying to figure this out; I'm not an Americana, and I can't read all the American news, but to an outsider this seems important. Bernie captured a lot of attention then, and taking the road to Trump was a global disaster.

Exactly. But it's fear from their lobbies, same as many dems fighting against Zohran. They talk about Bernie bros while he still holds the record for most individual donations in a pres primary - which suggest a broader appeal and engagement.

But Democrat voters still talk about Berniebros (which I guess is disparaging) and tell me he's useless as a legislator.

The opposition to him from Democrats was horrible in 2015-16.

I'd agree in the case of Trump's government and other conservative harbors for political bigots but governments elsewhere aren't pushing the same garbage.
