There was an article years ago about some students gathering petition signatures against dihydrogen monoxide, citing its prevalence in acid rain and the most polluted lakes. People signed against the awful threat, not realizing it was just water H2O.

I’ve been using LibreOffice for years now (after OpenOffice developed issues). It is a great product, totally free to install and use. The only very minor issue I’ve run into is when I need to share a file with a Word user. But I’ve saved spreadsheets in Excel formats successfully.

Update: I just got off the phone after only an hour wait and being passed to 4 different individuals. It turned out that I made a mistake on my tax form that will need to be corrected. I must admit that I was slightly paranoid given the cuts to the IRS. However when I finally got to the right person

I was concerned about it, but found mine and my wife’s SSOC were deposited exactly on the evening expected. But considering the statements, I wouldn’t be surprised if someone decides to just skip payments for a month and make recipients call on busy phone lines to “verify” their existence.
