Live from my home lab.

The current design of VPC is isolated as hell. It’s even hard to break out for public internet access

But I have a “moving” target to get this done by next week 🤓

PXE and IPMI is so good.

Just fiddling the automated os installation and configuration so that servers can quickly join and doesn’t need a hand.

It’s so good doing this with wine from my couch instead of the basement (home lab)

Why is cooling down servers using air a bad idea?
Air has a low thermal conductivity and cannot transport heat efficient. So its important to cool down the building instead. The heat is then transported to one of those chillers.

Building a Cloud from scratch is not easy. One of the difficulties is to identify at which layer of your stack are you actually working.

You don't want to have dependencies from the Metal Layer to the Application Layer e.g. to save some data in a database.

Some steps ahead in building my own cloud.

This is my lab setup in my homes basement.

Current tasks: make physical network redundant so every piece of hardware can fail without interruption. Every server is connected to two independent switches with fiber optics (multi homed servers)
