Fab thanks. And that is 100% in my head around targets. I think the approach of hitting -10LUFS or whatever for the loudest part of the loudest track and working back from there may be the best approach. And once that’s established, STOP OBSESSING OVER NUMBERS! 🤣

Ha. Yeah. Think I went POW2 for louder and POW3 for quieter. Maybe needed 3 for louder as “more POW!” 🤣

Anyway, very much enjoying the podcasts. Will have a good look at the link you sent through too. Probably should just may someone but as Mixerman said on one episode don’t bother if there’s no money involved/nobody is going to listen.

I suppose that comes with the bad advice knocking around. Took a peak at some files my mate got mastered by Tim Turan and Pete Maher and surprised how low my peak and average LUFS values were. Also the TP was way over -1 which I thought was wrong for streaming. I may be totally overthinking this!

Thank you. That helps I think. I’ll need another try at it. I’ve been trying to find references that breathe a bit and aren’t smashed - somehow my more orchestral ones then need to be turned right down to balance and although sound ok volume wise somehow the -14 LUFS or lower feels wrong.

Also, I think I heard you say somewhere else to always dither on export even at 24 bit. Any recommended default algorithm? I’m mostly guitar based indie-ish or poor man’s string based Divine Comedy-ish style wise.

Hi Ian. Great listen on my way home. A quick one about references. Mine are ripped from CDs so close to 0 True Peak. If I’m trying to peak at -1 as I think you recommended, is it as simple as turning the reference down a bit and setting my limiter at -1 to balance from there? Thanks in advance.

Doak seems to have all the potential in the world and still young, and while the figures on loan aren’t astronomical the game time is vital. It’ll be interesting to see what happens with him and much of that probably rests on the Salah contract.

There’s always been a player there and I’m not sure why fans were so divisive. That said, he was deployed as a Palmer MkII which he’s not - he’s thriving playing up top with good service/excellent movement in the box, neither of which seems that likely the way we play. See also Mullin. Tricky.

My uncle (Wrexham season ticket holder) is Uncle Brin, as in short for Brinley. Add being corrected to “Bryn” to that list.
