It’s worth it, if for no other reason than its distillation of modern American psychosis into 2.5 hours. Definitely not antiwoke as some are claiming. The film shows how ideologies can be weaponized by larger forces and how easily individuals can jump between ideological camps.

The cult also seemed to be playing with gnostic imagery and there was a brief line about an evil god, but so much in the movie is so rapid-fire and then not returned to that it’s easy to miss things.

*Eddington spoilers* The cult is obviously supposed to be reminiscent of the Manson Family, and this brings to mind O’Neill’s allegations regarding CIA involvement. I feel like the cult subplot is more interwoven with the main plot than is immediately apparent after one viewing.
