Now, Corporations will have to step in and fund basic research that keeps them competitive and has filled their pockets for generations while the public receives only the water that trickles down from their initial investment. The alternative is for American science to fall behind.

It’s the the responsibility of users and reviewers to determine “integrity”. If there is a lack of it, those authors and researches will fall behind, as they should. And besides, there already is a lack of integrity in science. Hopefully this will make science accessible to the layperson.

Those events should be explicit. Many papers I read point out flaws in their own evidence in a section at the end. Cherry-picking” and deceit are what has caused mistrust in science. Clear and understandable language should be an imperative as well. Veritas.

Fascinating how environmental toxicity might lead to social evolution through physical adaptation. Thank you for sharing this!

But it turned into a grant writing-funding engine. A nature article a few years back showed the # of ground breaking discoveries has decreased relative inflation adjusted investment. Clean food, air and water and access to basic healthcare would do wonders for humankind. As would a cure for greed.

I’m just not convinced that there is consensus to be found for proactive solutions or that the average consumer is willing to foot the bill for more expensive products. Funding innovative approaches addressing consequences of plastics and chemicals pollution seems more practical”.

Some DNA methylation can be inherited. What are the implications for evolution or generational trauma?

Money is necessary but not sufficient. What is funding for? Fictional storytelling? Media manipulation? So, those of us who believe in reality will need to do more with less. That is often a source of true innovation. Being forced to think outside of the box every step of the way.

What an embarrassment to be represented by someone so ignorant, sadly many people in our country agree with him. We must cure the misinformation contagion! Hah, we should make a hat!

Can’t know what a p-value is if you don’t even know what data is

That is good to hear! Grassroots should be what governs us. Someday down to the level of single individuals… if humans are around long enough. Thank you for your work.

Apples to oranges as they say. There are more variables to account for in ecological studies than controlled lab experiments. Are techniques similar to epidemiology or clinical studies used?
September 24, 2025 at 2:54 PM
Grass roots has been replaced by social media echo chambers. I think there is a deep discussion around what choice actually means, but regarding government, it is doomed to fail whether it is democratic, socialist, communist, people/humans are the common thread there…

Similar problems occur in engineering measurement systems analysis. Define, Measure, Analyze, Improve and Control DMAIC, is the six sigma mantra. Too often we jump to AIC without recognizing that DM is imperative for statistically sound sampling plans, output selection and experimental design.

But I have also not given up on education as medicine for social evolution. Things will get worse before they get better. Have you ever read “Lives of a Cell” by Lewis Thomas?
September 24, 2025 at 6:24 AM
True. Government is failing on many fronts. Change will have to manifest in a different way. I am also pessimistic about stopping pollution and climate change, but hopeful that science and engineering can address their consequences. Unfortunately that is the American way.

Evidence is mounting that the environment plays a critical role in health. Prevention is the best medicine. Prescribe lifestyle changes. Treat the environment as part of the human organism.
September 23, 2025 at 11:56 PM
This is so important. We have the tools to understand medicine at this level. The environment around us is like another organ.

How to help non scientists understand the confounding without sibling matched pairs.? They will be skeptical because of it. Statistics should replace geometry or trigonometry or supplement algebra in primary education.

My point was that the people who are anti science go to the internet, AIand to people like Joe Rogan. I am after all a scientific communicator.
