Slide 47 reads: NORMALISE TRANS AND QUEER PEOPLE LIKE HOW CISHET PEOPLE HAVE BEEN NORMALISED. Think of different movies and shows that involve romance, what is the main couple? A woman and a guy, right? Cisgender heterosexual romance has been normalised a lot, but when a relationship that isn’t cishet and monogamous is around people, people find it “weird” and being “shoved” in their face, when people who aren’t cishet and/or monogamous are just trying to live. We should NORMALISE people who don’t “fit” that cishet monogamous standard that had been set by the people in the olden days. Slide 48 reads: HOW TO FIND OUT MORE INFORMATION. You can find out more information by researching different websites and googling things like “how do I help with protesting against the discrimination that trans people get?” and “what type of discrimination do trans people face and how can we stop it?” By being educated on certain topics, like the disgusting discrimination towards non-cis people and realising how utterly weird hating on other people is and wanting them dead because of something that they cannot control is, means that you know more, thus making you understand the horrors that different people go through just because a person or a group of people believe that they “should not be alive.” Slide 49 reads: PROTESTING. Protesting on the streets and speaking up about the different inequalities that people under the trans umbrella faces makes an impact and it may make an even bigger impact if cis people protest against the discrimination against people who are under the trans umbrella or don’t look stereotypically “feminine” or “masculine.” It does NOT matter how one presents themself, as clothes and hair and accessories don’t particularly have a gender, just like how all bodies are different, not everyone has to be cis. By forcing trans people back into the closet or making them say that they’re cis means that there is a higher chance of them killing themselves, but existence is resistance, so for any trans person that reads this, you are valid, you deserve to live in a world that actually believes you are a person and most importantly, no-one but you controls your gender. Slide 43. It reads: HOW CAN WE END TRANSPHOBIA? Slide 44 reads: CHALLENGE THE SYSTEMS THAT INDUCE TRANSPHOBIA. Challenging the systems that induce transphobia can just be a person underneath the trans umbrella existing and being alive, another way one can challenge the system of transphobia can be by speaking out against the disgustingly bigoted ways of transphobic people and getting equality to cis people, as gender doesn’t define someone’s humanity, seeing as both trans and cis people are both classed as a homosapien, not two different species. Slide 45 reads: EDUCATE PEOPLE ON THEIR DISCRIMINATION AGAINST OTHER PEOPLE. Education is one of the best things people can have, as it makes them smarter and more aware, so by educating people on things that they don’t know about. Dictators and people who want control over their population doesn’t want them to be educated (look at what’s happening in the USA and how their education system (and basically everything else) is getting unfunded). By educating people on the different types of discrimination they show, they can learn from their mistakes. Slide 46 reads: SHUT DOWN & EDUCATE PEOPLE WHO HAVE INCORRECT TAKES ON TRANS PEOPLE. Boycotting people like J.K. Rowling and other people who use their status for disgusting and blatantly evil things — like removing people’s basic human rights. In New Zealand people’s rights to be protected from unlawful discrimination is under The Human Rights Act 1993. This protects people from being discriminated against due to their age, colour, race, disabilities (including illnesses), employment status, ethical beliefs, ethnic or national origin, family status, marital status, political opinion, religious belief, sex, sexual orientation and gender identity or expression. Slide 39. It reads: THE PSYCHOLOGY BEHIND TRANSPHOBIA. Slide 40 reads: FEAR OF THE UNKNOWN. Some people have little to no exposure to people underneath the trans umbrella, thus making them feel “uncomfortable” with what they don’t understand. This supposed “discomfort” may become “fear,” or hostility. The “fear” of trans people comes from their black-and-white thinking of how someone’s sex (what they’re born with) defines their gender, when it does not. People underneath the trans umbrella are NOT ‘scary’, or ‘disgusting pedophilic creeps’ (yes, some can be horrible people, but that is the MINORITY of trans people), you’re just a bigot if you think that all trans and enby people are a cause for concern. Slide 41 reads: RIGID GENDER BELIEFS. Societies with strict binary gender-norms often struggle to accept people who “challenge” these norms. People who strongly believe in and identify with the traditional gender roles may feel threatened by those who live outside of the expectations. Having rigid gender beliefs has a negative impact on EVERYONE who doesn’t fit them, as it entails that women (cis or trans) should not get an education and should not be allowed employment, as well as saying that men (cis or trans) should get a wife, provide for their family and do whatever else the patriarchy says men should do. Slide 42 reads: RELIGIOUS AND CULTURAL FACTORS. Some religious and cultural traditions emphasize binary gender and may interpret intersex people and people underneath the trans umbrella to be contradicting with their beliefs, though it is important to note that many religious communities are becoming increasingly accepting. There are several different religions that have different stances on transgender people, for this we will use the examples of Mormonism and Buddhism. Slide 38 reads: PLATFORMING FAKE ‘EXPERTS’. Giving credibility to individuals without relevant expertise who spread misinformation about transgender people. Platforming fake experts can be harmful to everyone who is trans and/or gender non-conforming. By giving transphobic people large platforms, such as J.K. Rowling, means that they can basically influence people into believing disgusting and untrue things about people underneath the trans umbrella — such as the utterly untrue things about trans women (or as they like to call it “[cis] men dressing up as women” wanting to go into the women’s bathroom just to rape cis women (which is mainly untrue, rapists are sick in the head, trans people are not), but I fear it’s common sense that if a cis male wanted to go into the women’s bathroom he would just do it without doing anything to look like a women, because their fragile masculinity decided that “being feminine/a woman = weakness” even though that is 100% NOT TRUE.

Slide 34. It reads: TRANSPHOBIA ON A CULTURAL AND MEDIA LEVEL. Slide 35. It reads: Negative stereotyping can happen to anyone — such as the stereotype of British people being miserable 24/7 and complaining about everything. Specifically, negative stereotyping of trans and non-cis people can be impactful in a negative way. Portraying transgender people, non-binary people, genderqueer people and anyone who does not align with the stereotype of their gender as “deceitful,” “mentally ill,” or “predatory” is disgusting and negative stereotyping of people. Slide 36. It reads: ERASURE. Erasure of people underneath the trans umbrella can be shown by people completely ignoring a trans/enby person’s experience and perspective on life. It can also be excluding them from the public eye. Trans identity can be one of the first things oppressive forces attempt to take away. Trans people challenge binary thinking — the false belief that “male” and “female” are the only two options and we must be one or the other for life, so staying as the “gender” your sex may be assigned at birth can be fine for some, but hellish and tiring to fake for others. Slide 33. It reads: Some educational barriers that may happen to trans/enby/gender non-conforming people (as well as other “abnormal” people) are things like bullying, being excluded, or having a lack of support with their education or within the educational institution they are in. Imagine that you were being excluded from a group for a reason that you cannot control at all. How would you feel? Confused? Upset? Unhappy? Alone? Bored because no-one wants to hang out with you for some reason that you don’t know about? Worried that it’s your fault and not theirs?

Slide 29. It reads: DISCRIMINATORY HEALTHCARE. Discriminatory healthcare may be a denial of gender-affirming care OR general healthcare based on someone’s gender identity. This could be rejecting someone who is underneath the trans umbrella due to their identity, even if they need the healthcare. Some doctors (and even some people) may think that trans and enby people can only be a certain way — for example if a person under the trans umbrella has little to no gender dysphoria someone may think that they’re faking being trans/enby. These people may try to make them ‘prove’ that they need the gender affirming care, doctors who think like this may refuse to give someone gender affirming care, such as HRT, if they think that the person is faking being trans/enby. Legally blocking trans people from having the ability to exist like the cis people do is a type of extreme discrimination and depending on how far one goes, may become genocidal when they want people under the trans umbrella to stop existing. A form of discrimination towards people underneath the trans umbrella may consist of refusing to hire them, refusing to give them a promotion and refusing to provide equal opportunities to transgender and non-binary employees. Imagine if you were in this situation: you are looking to obtain employment, so you can get money, but the people that have taken your resume (which meets all the correct requirements for that job) have denied you from being employed by them due to something you cannot control, i.e. your gender, your height, et cetera. Slide 32. It reads: HOUSING DISCRIMINATION. Housing discrimination is something that may happen to anyone, due to several factors, some may be: age, race, religion, gender, whether one has kids or not, et cetera). Housing discrimination may happen to transgender and non-binary people by denying them housing, or imposing different terms on them due to their gender identity without any sort of actually valid reason. Imagine if you were trying to get a house and your gender identity was used to reject you from one of the main NEEDS of a human being, how would you feel? Upset? Confused? Scared? Almost one in five New Zealanders who fall under the trans umbrella have been threatened by violence due to their gender identity in the past four years and close to one in ten (8%) experienced deliberate physical violence against them. Slide 22. It reads: SEXUAL HARASSMENT. Sexual harassment is disgusting, there are several different types of sexual harassment, such as making sexually implied comments towards someone who is uncomfortable by it/doesn’t want it, or touching someone without their consent (even if it isn’t inherently sexual, it’s still gross), or sexual assault, or rape — which there is NO morally right reason to do that to people. This can happen to a transgender person when someone makes unwanted comments or advances about them due to them being transgender — REMEMBER that sexual harassment unfortunately can happen to anyone, even though it should NOT happen at all. Physical abuse is often assault, murder, or other physical attacks on trans people due to their gender identity. Some forms of verbal abuse may be calling someone rude names, or calling someone slurs, or making derogatory comments towards trans people — this verbal abuse can happen to anyone from anyone. Verbal abuse can come in several different forms, such as: blaming, condescension, criticism, gaslighting, humiliation, judging, manipulation, name-calling, ridicule, threats and withholding information/affection/attention. Invasive questioning is where one asks a trangender person inappropriate questions about their body, their medical history, their transition and their experience without asking them beforehand to ask those types of questions. Imagine if someone asked you something invasive about your body, or your medical history unprompted, how would you feel?

Slide 18. It reads: DEADNAMING. Deadnaming someone is where you use the incorrect name for someone, even if they’ve told you repeatedly what their preferred name is. This is shameful to one’s self as it is a disregard for someone else’s comfort. The only time you should use someone’s deadname is if they have asked you to — either for their safety and/or because they’re not out to certain people. People can be transphobic bigots either due to a hatred of things that don’t fit their weird ‘cishet’ rhetoric and their weird and disgusting obsession of sex and what strangers and other people do that aren’t any of their beeswax. Sometimes it is due to their religion or culture, it depends on the person — but just because your religion says stuff like “don’t be in the LGBTQIA+ community,” does not mean that you should push that rhetoric onto the people around you. It reads: THE BATHROOM SITUATION. Some people like to think that transfeminine people or trans women are men and they want them to use the men’s bathroom because they think that they’re going to get sexually assaulted by a cis man pretending to be a woman, but that may not be the case as some cis men will just go into the women’s bathroom even though they’re not women. So are banning transfeminine people and transwomen from the womens’ bathroom really ‘protecting’ the cis women from being raped? Especially when it would be easier for the males that want to do disgusting things like that to pretend to be trans men.
