If you can take it, consider sticking around until it happens. As part of the RIF, they have to offer you severance. They may even offer a VSIP or voluntary separation package of $25-$50k. At the very least, you should get some severance and then be able to claim unemployment.

They are going to fire the probationary employees as part of the RIF. They are legally allowed to do it then.

I feel for you. Please hang in there and try to get some rest. I’m in a similar situation here with new developments every day. No layoffs for us yet, but on the horizon. Great hobbies a spite are the only thing keeping me going!
