Abyssal Line is still happening, I just haven't gotten much work done on it due to uni classes and dementium.

Not much for #TheAbyssalLine this #ScreenshotSaturday, midterms have been kicking my rear.
@lucasvarney.bsky.social has been implementing some new systems in the backend, and had also implemented weapon rotation for the aiming system! It's like those Wii shooters!
Even the Left Hand object rotates!

We've added an item wheel for your offhand. As you explore #TheAbyssalLine, you'll find various healing and offensive items that you can use, though like always, since you don't have 3 hands, you'll need to put the light down. (Sound is placeholder)

Big thanks to @lucasvarney.bsky.social for helping out with the project and getting these systems in, ESPECIALLY the hand slots and masking flashlight/darkness systems. Enemies also take damage and show it visibly via a texture blend (Very grody but very cool)

And the last post in this big friggin thread is some actual footage in-engine of the previously shown Phone Light, next to the Cricket bat. It's still a work in progress, hopefully the next time I do a Saturday post, It'll be working as intended :D

Last in terms of the weapons, The Stengun/Sten MK IX. This was technically the first weapon animated after the Cricket Bat, and I've shown it off before but I'm putting it here just for the sake of it.

Up next is the Shotgun. This was also given a rig pass by @bakdov.bsky.social, and he helped with the reload animation. This weapon is the most recently animated, and some aspects of the weapon (such as the striking hammers) will be handled in-engine.

Next is the Pistol, a nickel-plated Walther P38k. @fattony1531.bsky.social was kind enough to help me with some pointers to improve the texture, which I believe turned out well. @bakdov.bsky.social Also was kind enough to assist in making controllers for the rig to make it easier to animate.

Later on, it was decided to give the player character a flannel jacket. Here's how the Cricket Bat looks now, with a new arm rig by @bakdov.bsky.social that better fits the quasi OG Xbox/PS2 era polycount and texture resolution. The animations were polished and a resting animation was added.

First up, the OLD Cricket Bat.
This was the first weapon done, with an arm rig by @oopsallsolace.bsky.social I did it to see if I could do weapon animation. Then "AL" started after.
