I'd read this, I liked the "Three Dreams" posts you've created. Don't know a thing about publishing, but if you figure it out I'd put in a pre-order.

My grandfather fought on Iwo Jima and came back to become a police chief that integrated the police department.

I was very happy with my purchase! The poster came in a separate rigid tube a couple days before the shirts, but a kind message in the box told me "don't worry, we do this for reasons"

Not that this is the primary evil or anything, but my great uncle was released from Japanese captivity at Hoten Camp Manchuria (attached to Unit 731) on his birthday, August 18, 80 years ago. Probably wouldn't have survived captivity otherwise, along with many others from many countries.

I, fortunately, haven't *lost* a career in the field, but it's something I genuine want to do and have a lot of skills for that I can't pursue now. I never intended on it for money, but I guess because of my Catholic upbringing. Now options are gone to do it for love of people *and* any money at all

I am comfortable with my current employment. It's more the personal satisfaction part I'm thinking more long term about pursuing work and research that's interesting and supports my values.

English as the lingua franca for intl universities opens some doors, haven't ignored that, espc now.

Yeah, I knew vaguely that was your background. I really want to move more into it, but remote sensing oriented jobs are hard enough to come by as it is, let alone humanitarian ones (especially in the US).

Starting to explore doctorate programs as a more viable path to that end.

Where are jobs in this given the current state of federal hiring? I've mostly worked with satellite remote sensing and ML stuff. I used SAR+ML in a humanitarian UXO application for my Masters and want to do humanitarian stuff, but am a drone pilot and have done some stuff with that.

Nearly 2,000 Ukrainians served in Iraq, 18 of whom gave their lives supporting the US mission JD Vance was a part of. Has he said "thank you" once?
