That's not what we Canadians do. I might not like my neighbour, but if anything happens, I wouldn't want them or their kids to suffer. (Also, most of California didn't vote Trump)

And I meet people with good grades who are worried they can't cut it in grad school, so they don't apply. Someone should write a book about the bad grad students to give comfort to the good ones.

Sigh.... yeah, recognizing someone's work seems pretty ethical. I wish there was a footnote that could spill the tea on why a person couldn't fully approve the paper.
